Off of the Runway & Into Your Closet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

Let’s face it, fall fashion is one of the most exciting parts of the back to school season! Now that classes and internships are in full swing we are finally beginning to catch a glimpse of that crisp fall weather! It seems that plaid, cableknit sweaters, moccasins and knee-high boots have been in for a couple seasons now, so how can you spice up your wardorb this season and get heads turning as you make your way across the quad? Well, the answer is simple! Take a look at what some highly acclaimed designers have created for their Fall 2014 collections and pull inspiration from there.

Alice and Olivia went with an enchanted theme for their fall collection this year. As this is high fashion there is no need for you to steal this look directly off of the runway for class, but there are certain pieces that would work perfectly on their own! For example, rock a pair of black thigh-high boots with a chunky sweater and leggings, throw on a pair of lace tights with a circle skirt, or encorporate some leather by investing in a pair of leggings with leather detail or high-waisted leather shorts.

Another huge trend seen on the runway this season was animal print. In Olivier Rousteing’s creations for the Balmain collection he utilized yards and yards of beautiful printed fabrics. You can show off this trend in the simple ways pictured below!

All it takes is a simple scarf, detailing on a purse or if you are feeling bold a blouse with leopard printed all over.

One more style is one of the themes that Kate Spade featured in her fall runway show. Going for a classic black and khaki color scheme never fails! Try some black denim with nude flats and a beige twill jacket.

Whatever look you go for it is all about having fun and splashing your own attitude into the mix. Good luck!
