Get Hired: Attend the AU Job and Internship Fair on September 21

Tuesday, September 13, 2011
When:
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 - 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Perfect your elevator pitch, put on your suit and head over to the AU Job and Internship Fair on September 21. From 1:00-4:00 p.m., over 110 public, private and nonprofit employers will be at Bender Area recruiting talented AU students and alumni for part- and full-time positions.

The Fair, which occurs once a semester, allows students to seek opportunities in various industries as well as network with recruiters and alumni. “We’ve had plenty of students land both jobs and internships at each fair, so as long as you’re ready to market yourself to the best of your ability and maximize each chance to network, you never know what great opportunities you might land,” says Amanda Osborn, Lead Peer Advisor at the Career Center.

Even if you aren’t looking for work just yet, the Job and Internship Fair is a great way to learn about companies and careers. “It’s definitely worth going to. Companies like to know you’re interested, maybe before you’re really qualified to work for them,” says Kelsey Beck, a Kogod School of Business student who attended last semester.

Nervous about networking? The AU Career Center also offers numerous resources to help students prepare for the event. Check out the business attire style guide and schedule a mock interview online, and don’t forget to visit the Résumé Station on September 19 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. or 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the MGC Tavern.
