ABC’s new show “Notorious” has been given the prime time spot of 9pm on Thursday nights. This spot is usually held by the highly popular show “Scandal“, which comes back in January. “Notorious” fits in with the Thursday night theme of drama, mystery, and the empowered working woman. Julia George, played by Piper Perabo, is an extremely successful television producer. The back and forth banter between Jake Gregory, the charismatic defense attorney played by Daniel Sunjata and Julia George brings an air of professional competition and cooperation between their two fields.
The show’s first few episodes focus heavily on the murder of Jake’s famous client’s wife. The drama further ensues as Jake gets more and more high press cases for which Julia covers on her show. :Notorious” wouldn’t be an ABC drama without the usual forbidden romances and affairs that leave the viewer unsure on whether they enjoy the personal or the professional disasters more. The show focuses heavily on the manipulation of the media, using it to each of the character’s individual needs and thus amplifying the drama.
The dynamic duo’s shaping of the news and public perception was inspired by the relationship between “Larry King Live” producer Wendy Walker and real-life attorney to the stars Mark Geragos.
So if you’re already hooked to ABC’s other Thursday night hits, you might want to add “Notorious” to the list and enjoy an extra hour of drama.
