5 Things to Do Before The Semester Ends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

As the semester nears its end, it’s time to reflect on our bucket lists and hurriedly make sure we have accomplished all that we wanted to. Have no fear, there is still time to fit a few adventures in! And if you’re lost for ideas, here are a few suggestions to make the last few weeks of this semester really count!

1. Walk from campus to the National Mall.

Everyone’s been the National Mall and monuments, it’s a must; but have you walked or biked there?! You miss so much while riding on the metro and as the weather improves, it doesn’t hurt to take in the sights of the city on foot. The six-mile journey will definitely take some time and lots of water, but you will be able to experience the city from a whole new perspective.

2. Check out D.C. sports teams.

Who doesn’t love Nationals stadium, or cheering on the Wizards or Capitals? It’s never to late to catch a game with friends. We may miss cheering on our hometown teams, but a good day filled with fun, friends and food is sure to happen at any sports complex in the city.

3. Spend the day on the Quad.

As finals are approaching, there will be limited days to spend on the Quad so it’s necessary to get them in before we all become overwhelmed with exams. Take a day to chill with friends and lay out in the sun. With improvements in the weather, there is no better way to spend the sunny days then on the Quad. Take in the view of our beautiful campus from the most happening place, and maybe catch a few rays while you’re at it.

4. Visit the museums this city has to offer.

If this task isn’t at least done by graduation, you’ve done college in D.C. very wrong. There are many incredible, historic, museums D.C. has and to not take advantage of them would be upsetting! From the Holocaust Museum, to the Spy Museum, or the Portrait Gallery, there is bound to be something for everyone. You can even make a day of it by gathering a group of friends, hitting the museums, and then lunch to follow!

5. Attend an embassy event.

Living near Embassy Row definitely has its perks. And having easy access to fun events at the embassies is for sure one of them. Whether it’s a movie night at the Russian Embassy or a ball in the Italian Embassy, you can bet on having a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
