5 Places to Tan and Enjoy Spring Not on the Quad

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

Now that the weather is warmer, the quad is getting more crowded, filled with frisbee players, students attempting to study and footballs being thrown over your head. Not everyone feels comfortable just laying on the quad, where everyone at American can just watch you tan. Some people just like to relax in the sun in peace while the quad gets noisy. Here are 5 places to tan and enjoy the sun on campus.

1. McKinley’s rooftop

The newly built McKinley building has an enclosed rooftop on the 3rd floor. It’s the perfect place to do some work, while you tan at the same time. There are tables, chairs and even outlets, a hard find in the library. It can get crowded since McKinley is the new hip study spot.

2. The Amphitheater

It’s a great place to tan and hang out. It’s sort of enclosed from the rest of campus and not many people do work there. Just lay there for hours and no one will even bother you.

3. By the Beach Volleyball Courts

Right by the Beach Volleyball courts (Behind the Media Center), you can enjoy some nice sun and if you’re lucky, cute shirtless guys, playing volleyball. Almost no one ever goes there to tan, so it’s a super great spot to have some alone time. And a lot of cute boys come to play volleyball there, so that automatically makes this spot the greatest place ever.

4. The Turf by Jacobs Field

There’s a slight inclination, so it gives you a new way to tan. It’s definitely a quiet spot to tan because no one has the time to go behind there. It’s actually pretty annoying to get there, so if you’re really looking for a spot to tan in quiet, you should go there.

5. In Front of the Health Center

There is a big patch of grass in front of the health center and it’s such a great place to tan. Not many people live in the dorms of the surrounding area, like Clark and Roper.
