The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide.. for Men!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Albany chapter.

Now that we’ve filled our stomachs with turkey and gravy on Thanksgiving, it’s time to prepare for the next holiday this season!  Christmas is coming, and we can finally show our appreciation and adoration to all of our loved ones who’ve put up with our crap this year.

Men can be particularly hard to search for, so here’s a list of items and things that’ll help you satisfy your brother, uncle, father, boyfriend, husband or son.

  1. Personalized is always best

If you know your special man has been pining for something specific or you see he has a special interest in something, go ahead and get it for him. I’m sure if he’s an artist, he’ll appreciate a set of assorted Prisma Colored Pencils and a Gouache paint set more than a pair of Jordan’s. The first step to getting a gift for anyone for that matter is knowing your audience. Get to know what makes them smile and what they enjoy doing. Without a doubt, anything in that category should make their day. That being said, the following gift ideas are for those who can’t seem to find anything particular that’ll please their recipient and furthermore for those gift-buyers buying for men who insist “they don’t want anything”.

  1. Shoes

Men may not glorify shoes as much as we women do, but they still need them! They’re practical and a necessity of life. That being said, getting your male figure a pair of shoes can’t do any harm. Since the temperatures dropping, why not get a pair of boots (Timberlands or Uggs perhaps?). Just be sure to be precise and accurate when it comes to shoe size. Then they’ll know that you took extra care in getting them that gift.

  1. Cologne

Who doesn’t want to smell good? Cologne is a great gift because you don’t have to worry about the particulars like size and it’s almost always within a reasonable price margin. Some good brands of cologne that’ll surely show him you care are:

  • Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch
  • Burberry Touch Eau de Toilette
  • Ralph Lauren Men’s Polo Blue Eau de Parfum
  • Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò Eau de Toilette
  • Dior Homme Intense
  1. Undergarments/ Loungewear

Typically, people don’t like getting socks for Christmas, but paired with a couple other items, it can make a great gift! Getting an assortment of practical undergarments and loungewear like a pack of boxers, socks, a robe, a pajama set, a pair of winter gloves and maybe even some t shirts and slippers would be a great package on Christmas. Its practical and things that can be used on the daily by anyone. Make it even more special, topping it off with some nice packaging and a bowl.

  1.  Jewelry

When I say jewelry, I don’t mean a diamond bracelet with matching diamond rings. I’m talking about manly jewelry! The kind men only wear one of. A nice gold chain for example, or if your guy has pierced ears, a diamond stud. If your recipient is so macho he doesn’t even wear those things, then get him a nice watch! A nice gold or silver watch dresses up any outfit and looks great for a tux or suit for New Year’s Eve. Here are a couple of options:

  • Michael Kors Men’s Slim Runway Black Ion-Plated Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
  • Citizen Men’s Quartz Black Ion-Plated Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
  • Bulova Men’s Chronograph Sport Gold-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
  • GUESS Men’s Crystal Gold-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
  • Kenneth Cole New York Men’s Diamond Accent Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
  • Fossil Q Men’s Explorist Gen 3 Stainless Steel Bracelet Touchscreen Smart Watch

Here are a couple options and things to think about this season, as you share and give to your loved ones. With these presents under the tree, you’ll be sure to make your special man smile and be thankful he has you in his life. Happy Gifting!

Hey girl, hey. Glad you stopped by my page today :) I am a student at the University at Albany majoring in English and a minor in Philosophy and Psychology. I know, its a lot.  I typically like to write about just about anything, and I'm really corny so feel free to make fun of all my cheeky commentary. Hope this is helpful to anyone who ever wants to just relax and learn something new.
