What Bars You Should Go To Based On Your Personality

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

Fall is rolling back again and that means bar season. If you’re new to the bar scene in Tuscaloosa or new to it in general, or just turned 21, I’m here to give you the details on which bar in Tuscaloosa you should go to based on your personality. If you’re not into crowded spaces with smoke machines, that’s not the bar for you. You’re going to have the most fun in a bar depending on the bar scene that fits you.

1.) If you’re into the hippie scene: The Green Bar. The Green Bar has the perfect bohemian ambience with the old brick wall style and the lovely white lights. All of the décor like the booths and bar stools are vintage looking. The Green Bar has live bands and special events like poetry readings. I actually read one of my poems at the Green Bar for a poetry reading. The bar has a calm mood with relaxed vibes. You should totally check this place out if you’re into the rustic bar atmosphere!

2.) If you’re into dancing: Rounders, Gallettes and Bear Trap are perfect for you! Rounders has two big dance floors, one inside with smoke machines, confetti, and bright lights and the other one is outside on the rooftop with a DJ. If you’re under 21 but 19, you’re allowed in, just have to have complete sober fun. Gallettes opens up their large dance floor when the bar has a big crowd. This space gives you plenty of room to club. Bear Trap is smaller than the other two bars I have mentioned, but it plays the hit pop songs and party songs and has the same fun energy that the bigger bars have. Plus, Bear Trap is a rooftop bar so it has a fun vibe. These bars are great to go with your friends.

3.)  If you want a good margarita: Taco Mama’s has the best margaritas in Tuscaloosa! You can get a salt rim or a sugar rim. Either one is going to taste great with your delicious margarita! There are a wide variety of flavors to choose from. You can enjoy your yummy margarita outside at a nice sitting area with string lights.

4.)  If you want to just drink and chill: Hound’s-Tooth, Wilhagens, and Copper Top. Hound’s-Tooth has great Bama spirit with a fun yet chill atmosphere. Hound’s-Tooth has a pool table, dart boards, and fun events like Bingo which is actually fun. If you just simply want to sit and drink with an old school bar feel, Copper Top and Wilhagens are the bars for you. Plus, Wilhagens has food!

5.)  If you want a dive bar feel: Egan’s is the perfect place for you! The moment you walk into Egan’s you can feel the nostalgia. The walls are covered with posters featuring legends and icons such as Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, and more. Dartboards and a pool table give you the old dive bar mood you’re looking for. The retro ambience is complete with the bright colored lights that are hung in the ceiling and worn leather bar stools. So, now that you have a guide to some bars that will fit your niche, here are some tips before you go out.

1.) Never go to bars alone. Always use the buddy system!

2. ) The bigger the group, the better. There’s a least likely chance you will be harassed if you’re in a big group and big groups at bars is fun!

3.) Bring your guy friends if you’re single. There are always sketchy guys at a bar and guys will do stupid things drunk. Those guys will usually leave you alone if you’re surrounded by guys in a group.

4.) Never drive drunk! If you’re not the DD, make sure you have a friend who will be or call a cab! One night of fun is not worth you or any of you friends getting in trouble or you’re lives being in danger! Plus, you don’t want to cause harm to anyone out there driving intoxicated. Making sure you have a plan for a ride keeps everyone safe!

5.) Make sure you or someone in your group has their phone charged/phone charger. I’ve been in situations with a dead phone and trust me; you need your phone charged!

Have fun ladies and stay safe! Xoxo!
