How-To: Dress For Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, there are many things a collegiette could be thinking about: what am I going to get my significant other? How are we going to celebrate? Where are we going to celebrate? Is that cute boy in my English class going to ask me out? Should I just stay in and watch chick flicks? Whatever your Valentine’s Day plans, there should be one more thing on your mind—what am I going to wear? As usual, Her Campus Alabama has you covered for all your sartorial needs!

If you’re headed down for a romantic stroll down the river walk or for a more casual night out, look no further! With this light cotton dress and a pair of bright flats, you’ll be dressed to impress. A white dress is always classic, and these bright red flats add a delicious pop of color, perfecting for celebrating this holiday of love. Keep in mind that Alabama tends to still be chilly in February (especially at night!), so plan to keep warm with a scarf and a cardigan.

If your idea of Valentine’s Day is staying in, watching a movie, and vegging out on Chinese food, we’ve got the perfect outfit with comfort and style. The shoulder studs of this oversized cardigan give the outfit enough spunk without being overkill and can easily be worn over a v-neck t-shirt. Add this four-leaf clover necklace for a bit of love-life luck and a touch of sparkle, and these boots go along with the casual vibe.

If you’ve got a hot date this Valentine’s Day and need to impress, listen up! This black number is a classic LBD—with a twist. The peplum waist and sheer v-neck keep it on trend and add just the right amount of sexy. Pair it with black pumps and a white clutch that pops against the black, giving you the right amount of shine for a fabulous evening.
