December Movies Pick List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

December, of course, is the season of giving and this December is giving us a lot of good movies coming to theaters. Usually, only one or two great films come out during Christmas time but this holiday season we are being treated with a wide variety of great flicks. So, head to the movies this December with your loved ones.  Here is my list of movies that are a must see in the month of December:

1. Star Wars Rogue One

I am a huge Star Wars fan and have loved Star Wars my entire life so naturally this is my first choice. I have always wanted Star Wars to have a main female Rebel character besides Princess Leia and I’m so happy that is coming to the big screen. This film is about the rebels that get the plans for the death star. I am beyond excited and Darth Vader even makes an appearance.

2. The Space Between Us

Most films focus about people wanting to come to space, while this movie is about a teenage boy raised in space who desperately wants to experience life on Earth. This movie looks like a bittersweet love story between Brit Robertson and Ezra Butler and a great look on how beautiful life and our Earth is.

3. Passengers

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt star in this sci-fi love story about two passengers that wake up from their hibernation sleep too early. How can you go wrong with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence?

4. Collateral Beauty

When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) experiences a deep personal tragedy, he wants answers from the universe so he begins writing letters to love, death, and time. He is surprisingly answered by time, love, and death that show him the beauty of life despite the tragedy. This film is a star-studded cast with Keira Knightly, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, and more.

5. La La Land

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling star in this film about two individuals who are trying to reach their dreams and fall in love with each other. However, the dreams they have been trying so hard to achieve will threaten their love affair. The film has a magical and whimsical feel and Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have always had sparkling chemistry together on screen. Plus, John Legend has a role. Enough said.
