The CW’s TV Reboot: Dynasty

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Alabama chapter.

PSA: The CW is set to premiere, Dynasty, an upcoming TV reboot based on the 1980s soap opera. The network is introducing a fresh new take on the popular show with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creators of The O.C. and Gossip Girl, as its creative writers/developers.

The show is set to premiere on October 11 and stars Elizabeth Gillies (known for her role as Jade West on Nickelodeon’s Victorious) as Fallon Carrington.

If you were to combine your favorite parts of Gossip Girl, 90210, The O.C., and Days of Our Lives, then Dynasty would be your product.

Dynasty focuses on heiress Fallon Carrington who is unhappy when her billionaire father, Blake, is engaged to an employee and threat named Cristal. Fallon’s previous experiences with her father’s girlfriend’s generates doubt and fuels a face off between Fallon and her soon-to-be-stepmom. The show presents strong ambitious women and plenty of chaos.

My name is Alex Plavin and I am from Atlanta, Georgia. I am a sophomore at The University of Alabama (Roll Tide) pursuing a degree in Business Management with a passion for writing and entertainment news. I have an unhealthy obsession with binge-watching Netflix and Gossip Girl. I force my friends to watch my favorite Romcoms and any Zac Efron movie. I am always up to date on the latest news and have a tendency to know hundreds of random facts about anything and everything.
