As always, celebrities brought many stunning looks to the red carpet for the Academy Awards. Daniel Kaluyaah looked sharp in his camel colored jacket, Emily Blunt was elegant in Schiaparelli, and Nicole Kidman was striking in her royal blue Armani Privé gown.
But this year, James Ivory can take the throne of the Academy’s fashion icon. The 89-year-old writer, who is now the oldest person to receive an Oscar for his adapted screenplay Call Me By Your Name, sported a shirt with Timothée Chalamet’s face painted on it.
According to BBC News, British artist Andrew Mania was inspired to do the look for Ivory after seeing Ivory’s critically acclaimed film, directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer. In the final scene, Timothée’s character, Elio, is wearing a shirt covered in an artistic pattern of faces (pictured below). Mania mimics this style with his eye-catching timothee-tee that had everyone talking the night of the Oscars. Mania has stated that James Ivory intends to give the shirt to Timothée, who expressed great admiration and excitement over the clothing item.
