So, there’s this movement called Purpose: The Movement (duh) and it’s being led by Justin Bieber. I know, I know, the worlds most hated and liked person all at the same time. What does he know about purpose? Well, he’s helped me a lot. Since 2009 I’ve been following and supporting his career in anyway I can. I travel to concerts, events, buy merchandise/albums not once but twice and even 3 times. This album was really anticipated among the Belieber fandom. For three years we took a beating over the person we loved. We love his music. We love his creations. We love watching him. None of that mattered when he was acting up and even got arrested a few times. Bieber was automatically on the world sh*t list.

This movement is him telling his thoughts behind the scenes. He’s released a music video for every song on the new album and I’ve been listening and I’ve been watching, and I’ve been thinking what is my purpose? What are these videos trying to tell me?

Mark My Words

This video was the first in the short film series. It’s an emotional kick start. For me to hear him say the words in the beginning, as if he is talking right to me, he’s admitting his fault. He’s admitting that he is human too and no matter how much fame and money you may have, it’s still possible to fall into depression. Even if there’s thousands of people who want you around, you can still feel alone. His words shine a light on the fact that we truly never know what is happening in someones life. We can never truly read their minds and feel what they feel inside. Be sensitive, listen, understand, and be observant. You should be there for the people you love. “If Justin did it, then I can do it.”

I’ll Show You

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAsiGrg_CrQ  & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfGaX8G0f2E

The meaning behind this song is for Justin to show us that there’s a downside to the life he has chosen to have. That he questions his future and his choices just like the rest of us. Nobody should think their life is harder then their neighbors. We are all here for a reason and we are all trying to make it. I’ll show you how far I can go and you’ll show me how far you can go. We will make mistakes together but in the end, we both reach the top.

What Do You Mean?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y3a2MRoMnI

I love this video, just for the fact that it starts off in a classroom. I think we can all relate to asking ourselves “What Do You Mean!!!” when a professor just makes no sense. To a more serious side, the song is about making decisions and how they can affect the people around you. This song is said to be about his relationship with Selena, but I think every relationship can relate to the message. When the person you want the most is pulling away and flip flopping your emotions, it doesnt feel good. Maybe they dont know what they want and you’re willing to wait for them to figure it out. You’ll do anything to keep them around but you just cant take the waiting game.

Love Yourself

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyEuk8j8imI

Before you can let yourself be loved by someone, you need to find internal love first. You can’t let yourself open up to the possibility of love if you keep holding yourself back. If you think that you arent worthy of the wonderful sides of falling in love, you’ll never find it. This is all the same message in different wording. It’s just something that many people dont see within themselves. Its possible to find a soulmate, you just need to believe that you deserve it and you have the ability to enlighten someones life. It will come.

The Feeling

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYj4l5Xntt0

You’ve come to a crossroads and you dont know if what you love is exactly right for you. You dont even know if what you feel is love or just a feeling of being complete. In the video, when he takes the oxygen mask, he’s basically saying that the thoughts inside his head are suffocating. He’s driving himself mad and his thoughts are holding him back from what he wants to be for his love.

Life is Worth Living

You were put on this earth because you are strong enough to get past everything that is shown in these videos.

Children

The young minds on this earth are so valuable. Innocent and authentic minds. We take that for granted.

Purpose

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca1i6DZC3iY

For me, this video is showing how the fans kept Justin here. The dancers are the fans, who stuck around and screamed for him to get back in line. We told him he needs to be the creator we all found on YouTube. He’s telling us that we didnt have to stick around because he’s happy with what he has and he’s thinking that hes over the fame. He’s telling us that his purpose was to come back for us. In the end when they all step back, the job has been done. Now we just need to step back and enjoy the next chapter of music.

My purpose is to experience all the life situations in these videos as they come. My purpose is to let life move around me and go with whatever journey that was made for me. My purpose is to not question the mistakes ive made but use them to create something beautiful. My purpose is to be human.
