Summertime Lunching in Abz!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

Summertime has arrived and all our worries can be put to rest. Summer is about catching up on much needed rest, picking up those dusty books, exercising, and most of all eating well. In the warmer months we crave more fresh and healthy foods and eating out becomes part of our weekly routine. So while you may be sitting at home in Aberdeen drooling over your best pals latest Instagram of her Greek salad on the beach in Mykonos, here is a list of the top four lunch spot in Aberdeen summertime to keep those cravings quenched!

1. Number one, and one of my personal favourites – Café 52. One true indication that summer time has arrived is when the terrace comes out of hiding and is set up right outside this cute little café. The sweet little terrace surrounded by beautiful trees and small shrubs makes for the perfect lunch spot on a summers day. The lunch menu fits right into a student budget and their range of foods will satisfy all appetites. Located on the green, this café has a most serene and quirky atmosphere and will be sure to make all your media followers jealous.

2. The Coffee House. This sweet coffee spot serves both as the best winter warmer but also as a hot summer spot. With their iconic turquoise, picnic furniture set up out front, the coffee house works as the perfect wee spot for some summer snacking. Their freshly prepared sandwiches, drinks and sweet treats will provide your summer with the fuel you need to get you through the long, (hopefully) hot days!

3. If you haven’t yet been to The Food Story Café get down to Thistle Street now! This café, owned by two of our very own University of Aberdeen graduates, provides a little taste of heaven to the Aberdeen food scene. With freshly cooked and baked goods, the food story provides us with organic and not to mention locally grown fresh and delicious produce in all sorts of forms. Open as early as 7am, this café provide breakfasts ranging from superfood porridge to cooked breakfasts all consisting of organic produce. Their lunch bites include homemade soups, sandwiches, wraps and all sorts of tasty snacks. The quaint, cosy, and cool atmosphere must go on your summer to do list!

4. Despite it’s predominantly older clientele, the Albyn, located in the beautiful west-end, provides a plethora of sunny spots to satisfy those summertime cravings. With a large outside area with lovely views, the Albyn is the perfect place for a summer time treat. From salads, to pastas, to tortillas, to the most extensive burger menu I’ve ever seen – The Albyn is sure to have something for everyone! A little on the pricey side, this place doesn’t bode well as a regular for students but should definitely be on your list of places to visit when you’re feeling extra generous in these warm months to come!

So get out there and ENJOY!
