Top 3 Best Gelato in Rome, Italy

Friday, April 27, 2012

Who says you need to starve yourself to perfectly fit in your bikini for your spring break?

I rather chose eating the best gelato in Rome, instead of torturing my body in starvation. Girls, get ready to run into Sugarland after seeing my photoblog this week! Here are delicious pictures  from the most popular gelaterias, which means gelato shop in Italian.

1. Old Bridge

2. A Gelateria I liked the most! It’s located near Vatican, and it’s cheapest but the greatest!

3. FASSI has more than a hundred year of history making this deli gelato! Now has franchises in Seoul, South Korea and Shanghai, China too.

GIOLITTI is located near Pantheon, and it had so many different kinds of flavors! (It was so hard to choose only 3 flavors.)

UNC: What to see and what to skip

Thursday, April 12, 2012

While my fellow Tar Heels prepared to go home for Easter weekend, I took the time to stroll around campus and really take in all that Carolina has to offer – the good, the bad, and the underappreciated.

The Good

The Old Well

First and foremost, Carolina is not Carolina without its signature monument: The Old Well. What initially was a water supply for the Old West and Old East dormitories, the Old Well has become a symbol of the university and its history. It is also one of the most beautiful spots on campus when spring comes around – as you can already see.

Keenan Memorial Stadium

It is not the Dean Dome, but who said that was the only good sports venue at Carolina? Kenan Stadium is the home of Carolina’s football team. During the fall, students, friends, and alumni pack the bleachers and cheer on the Tar Heels to victory! But what makes this location so special is its view. The Carolina blue sky and green field is the epitome of scenic divinity.

The Bad

Brick Monsters

What others see as sun-dried pieces of clay, Tar Heels see as the epitome of social embarrassment and potentially social suicide. The bricks used to pave Carolina’s walkways are so uneven, or even infrequent – seeing that they always go missing, that anyone who walks the pavement will guarantee trip. To make matters worse, someone will see your stumble! There is no recovery.

Pollen

Death be to all things pollen! Seriously, no one likes pollen and Carolina seems to have an abundance of the unwelcome allergen. If there is anything that Tar Heels hate about
spring, then it’s the pollen take over.

The Underappreciated

The Forest Theater

“I’ll pass on sitting in the Pit. I’m going to go hang out at Forest Theater.” When was the last time you heard someone say that on campus? The Forest Theater, located on North Campus across from Jackson Hall, is a stone amphitheater used for outdoor drama performances. It’s a cool, quiet place you can go to when you just want to get away from the campus frenzy at Carolina. Fun fact: The Forest Theater also serves as a venue for wedding ceremonies!

The Coker Arboretum

Okay, the Arboretum has a bad reputation on campus. While it is extremely creepy at night – use the buddy system, please – it is very beautiful and calming in the day! Anyone who adores nature and all its gifts should definitely sit in or around the Arboretum during her free time. Give it a chance. You may just fall in love!

Spring Break Tease

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Spring Break is just around the corner. Students are all ready to go on break. Just a couple more midterms are between them and a well- deserved break. One day before Spring Break, Mother Nature decided to grace us with beautiful Carolina weather of 77 degrees.  Many students could not resist the temptation of sunny weather and decided to hang out with friends at Polk Place.

Let it Snow!

Friday, February 24, 2012

With the weather changing as often as Katy Perry changes her hair color, the students of Chapel Hill were greeted with an unexpected flurry of snow Sunday night.  While some avoided the cold and stayed inside, other students jumped at the opportunity to have a little fun in the snow. Even though the lawns and streets were only dusted with a little powder, the students made the most out of what had fallen and seemingly had a blast!

These girls got bundled up in their cutest winterwear to go have some fun in the snow!

Even though the snow was light, it created a beautiful sight for students after a long Sunday of study.

The streets and sidewalks of South Campus were empty while everyone was in the fields enjoying the freshly fallen snow.

The students of South Campus congregated at Ehringhaus Fields where a snowball war inevitably ensued.

Students displayed their school pride in the snow, if only it had lasted a little longer!

Politicking in the Pit: Carolina’s 2012 Elections

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

It’s that time of the year again. No, I’m not talking about Valentine’s Day or “Beat Duke” week. It’s the time of year when Carolina students become politically charged! It’s voting season. Aside from the historical 2012 presidential election, which is quickly approaching, UNC Student Body President and Senior Class Co-Presidents elections are right around the corner. And, in hopes of getting the majority of Carolina’s votes, these candidates took their campaigns to the Pit! Here’s a glimpse of some of Carolina’s candidates in action.

Nora Chan and Tim Palmer are close friends running for Senior Class Co-Presidents on the same campaign. Their elaborate campaign signs are sure to catch the attention of plenty of students.

Will Leimenstoll is an environmental studies and geography major. This junior has an environmentally friendly campaign and plans to lessen UNC’s carbon footprint.

Adam Jutha, an international student, and Sarah Kraminer, a native Carolinian, have been companions since freshman year and share the goal of uniting the Class of 2013, both within the last year of college and post-graduation.

Candidates running for Student Body President and Senior Class Co-Presidents mingle with their peers in the Pit. It’s campaigning at its best!

Students are also campaigning to bring awareness about the 2012 presidential election. Here’s a student promoting voter registration.

We've Got Spirit: Inspirations for Showing Your Pride While Looking Fabulous

Tuesday, January 31, 2012
Have you ever felt like going that extra mile for a sporting event with your outfit but haven’t been quite sure what to wear? You can find inspiration all over.  From waiting in line outside or to get a tasty snack, to the stands around you, girls are putting their best foot forward when it comes to showing off their pride and fashion sense.  Here are some of the best outfits from the NC State game, so get inspired and show off your spirit in style!

While waiting in line to get into the game, these besties stay warm with a cute sweatshirt with scarf and a ruffled blouse layered with a cardigan.

For a fun and easy look, just add a Carolina Blue scarf to a plain tank-top, pair it with some boots and you are good to go!

If you are a little more outgoing, try wearing a dress. You can play it up with a scarf and boots to make it more fun! Show off your pride for your organization too by adding a button.

This cutie spices up her look with a sparkly top, adding a scarf for a pop of color.

This fashion forward look really stands out in the crowd. The bold stripes are fun and playful while the blue necklace is the perfect accessory to bring together the outfit.
