HC MARYLAND PHOTOBLOG
Excursion to the Chesapeake Bay
Sunday, May 13, 2012Bodies of water are probably one of the most calming places to be, especially when the day is winding down. These are some pictures from the bay at Sandy Hill Camp and Retreat Center in North East, MD. The sunset created a purple-blue haze over the water which made the evening feel even more peaceful than it already was. The dock was also really cool to hang out on. I can't wait to enjoy the weather, water, and sunsets this summer.

Signu de Mayo with ZTA
Monday, May 7, 2012On Wednesday, May 2nd, Sigma Nu and Zeta Tau Alpha teamed up to raise money for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness at the Sigma Nu Chapter house. The event was called “Signu De Mayo With ZTA” and was a taco fiesta and volleyball tournament. Guests could pay $5 for endless tacos and chips and salsa, and $1 for churros and non-alcoholic margaritas. It was a great turn-out and luckily the weather held out too! Even the newest “Zeta Member,” Mia, the Teacup Cihuahua, enjoyed herself!

One Piece of Clothing = 3 Surprising Outfit Choices
Sunday, April 22, 2012Today we’re going to learn how to take one article of clothing and put it to multiple uses. For those of you who can’t afford to go shopping anytime soon or just need a new way to rock your favorite pants or shirt, take notice!

For my example we will be using a solid blue chambray shirt and making an outfit that you can wear to class, to an interview and a night out with the girls.

First we paired the shirt with green jeggings, combat boots (that are essential to a girl’s wardrobe right now), a cute cheetah print headband and a brown messenger bag big enough to fit notebooks.
To make the look more professional we dropped the jeggings, boots and headband and added black pants, wedges and a blazer and still kept the bag (we just took off the straps).
Finally, we created a cute party outfit by tying the shirt (to show a little belly) with a solid black bodycon skirt, wedges and a statement necklace and bracelet. So try using this example to spruce up your favorite clothing item by matching it with different articles of clothing and before you know it you’ll have new outfits for the summer!
A Colorful Easter
Sunday, April 15, 2012I was so excited to have a such a warm and breezy Easter this year, since more recent Easter’s have been very chilly or even rainy. I took the opportunity to take some pictures and capture the colorful, delicate essence of the holiday. I spent my Easter at my aunt and uncle’s house in New Jersey with some relatives. It was nice to enjoy tons of food and great company outside in the backyard. It is clear that summer is approaching quickly. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!

Schooled by the Stars
Sunday, April 8, 2012What do ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars”, AMC’s “Mad Men” and the CW’s “90210,” “Hart of Dixie” and “Gossip Girl” all have in common? Well, if you’re into clothes and fashion, then the answer to that question is clearly their awesome wardrobe departments.
All the characters from these shows have their own personal style. In each episode, they rock killer, expertly crafted ensembles that look so great you wish you could rip them out of the screen (or is that just me?) Keep reading to learn how to capture the style of some of the most fashionable characters on T.V.
Aria Montgomery (Pretty Little Liars)

In my humble opinion, all of Aria’s outfits on every single Pretty Little Liars episode, especially this past season, were simply to-do-for. Her style is all about adding sometimes unexpected, bright and bold pops of color and edgy, high-fashion accessories to her outfits, which give her that fierce “rock star” vibe.
To create Aria-esque outfits, look for leather jackets with lots of zips and studs or boots with spikes and other hardware. These pieces are great for toughening up feminine floral prints and fabrics like lace and chiffon. And never underestimate the power of accessories.
If you choose to wear a blouse or dress in neutral colors like black, tan or gray, take that as the perfect opportunity to rock a high ponytail and interesting, feather earrings in head-turning colors like electric blue and neon green.
Naomi Clark (90210)

While I love Naomi and her fashion sense on 90210, I don’t think I could ever wear half of her outfits to school. However, her super-glam-yet-classic wardrobe would definitely come in handy for occasions that require me to get a little dolled up.
If you watch the show, you know that über-wealthy Naomi’s outfits are made up of crazy expensive, designer pieces. But you don’t have to spend a fortune to get her look. Wallet-friendly stores like the ever popular Forever21, H&M and Charlotte Russe have everything you need to build a Naomi-inspired ensemble.
Try pairing a flowy, button-up blouse with structured, high-waisted wide-leg pant that makes you look long and lean. And stock up on billowy maxi dresses in soft, delicate fabrics – they are perfect for the fast-approaching summer season.
Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl)
Blair is the epitome of girly, preppy perfection. Her clothes are immaculately tailored and every part of her outfit – down to the tights, head and hair accessories and nail polish – are so flawless that she looks like she should be posing in a catalogue.
But the key to her look is all the dainty, schoolgirl touches. A Blair outfit simply isn’t complete without hair bows, ribbons and neckties, so rack up on those if you want to snag her look. Also, classic, A-line skirts, pleated skirts and “presidential-looking” dresses in solid, royal blue, red or violet are a must for creating a perfectly polished outfit.
Betty Draper (Mad Men)

Okay, I will admit that I’ve never actually watched this show (gasp!) But I’ve heard so much buzz about the show’s awesome fashion wardrobe and I’ve seen so many photos that I almost feel like I have.
I decided to highlight Betty because her classic, fabulous 1960s clothing literally makes me wish I lived in that era. It’s so great that that the fashion of the 50s and 60s is making a comeback this season since I just can’t get enough of the sleek silhouettes, delicate cardigans and the always-in-style pearl necklaces and earrings.
Dr. Zoe Hart (Hart of Dixie)
Zoe’s fashion sense is similar to mine which is probably why I love it so much. She is the typical New Yorker and her clothes characterize stereotypical New York fashion to a “T”. You can look just as great as she does by wearing stylish button-up blouses, modern, casual blazers and of course, the short-shorts she has become known for.
To add even more New York flavor to your ensembles, don’t be afraid to rock adorable oxford booties and ultra-cute ankle boots in suede and leather.
