HC MUOHIO BLOG
Wednesday, May 2, 2012
Our lovely city of Oxford is infamous for its well-dressed students, beautiful campus, and not to mention our fun-filled weekends Uptown. During the school year, Oxford, Ohio is taken over by the students at Miami, and sometimes most of us might forget that there are other families that live here too! We aren’t the only ones who call the “Ox-Box” or “Oxvegas” home....

I have realized over the past couple weeks that my blogs so far have focused on my own experiences, and perhaps I have come off as the victim; as if I have not made mistakes or done or said things to hurt others around me. With this being said, I have decided that this week’s blog will be about bullying and why girls do it.
The ways that girls bully other girls are much different...

Is there anything better then reclining in your favorite beach chair, digging your toes into the sand, and cracking open a good read? Summer’s calling, and that means no more projects, tests, or teachers ruling your lives with idiosyncratic methods and teaching styles no one can ever catch onto. Yes, it is finally time to sell our books back to Shriver, and if you’re like me, opt for...

I guess I was destined to be more comfortable hanging around guys than girls, and I can probably thank my dad for that. My dad had started me out at t-ball and bowling when I was five or six. From there, I learned to ski, and moved on to volleyball, basketball, soccer, track, and snowboarding. I guess from all the sports and working out, (and probably from being burned a few times by girls), I...

Craving a wardrobe with spunk and bright colors? You sound like a Betsey Babe to me!
We all have a girl crush, and for me it is the one, the only, Betsey Johnson! To prove my devotion, just check my desktop. I may or may not have an entire folder filled with photos of my favorite pieces of hers and pictures from her shows. Every bone in her body is unique!
From the instant you walk...

As much as it pains me that I’ll soon be leaving what I consider to be one of the greatest universities in America, as of late, there have definitely been some telltale signs that my time here has run out; that it's simply time to go. So here's my non-exhaustive (great adj.) list of just the ways in which to tell if you too have hit your expiration date here at Miami.
You...

What gets you exercise, allows you to hang out with friends, introduces you to amazing people, AND gives you the opportunity to cure cancer? I don’t know what you were thinking, but I was thinking Relay for Life! This past weekend, hundreds of Miami students, faculty, and Oxford citizens, walked at Millet so that one day there will be a cure for cancer.
The Relay for Life...

We all know that saying, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” When we go through a bad day, our friends or family will tell us that the hard times we are going through will make us stronger. Kelly Clarkson even uses the saying in her latest hit song, “What Doesn’t Kill You,” referring to an ex-boyfriend that she has gotten over and moved on from. I even...

Admittedly, I jumped on The Hunger Games bandwagon pretty late, only reading the first book a few days before the movie came out. What begin with me reading the books to keep my friends from nagging me quickly became an intense obsession. After finishing the first book, I quickly dove into the second and third, finishing the series before I finally got to see the movie in theaters.
Generally, I...

We’ve all had those days where we just feel like nothing has gone right. Your alarm does not go off, so you sleep in and end up missing your first class. All the hot water is gone when you finally get into the shower, you end up having a bad hair day, and when you go to your afternoon calculus class, you find out that you failed an exam. Just when you think the day could not get any worse,...
