LDOC Eating Contest

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Yes, we all know that LDOC is about drinking, but some people decided to eat to raise money for HomeStart, a local homeless shelter. Participants in the LDOC Eating Contest competed for Visa gift cards, with team members chowing down on six donuts, a whole pizza, and even a giant bowl of Jello. In the end, only one (very full) team proved victorious, though.

I Will Never Get Tired of the Gardens

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

There’s no better place on campus to relieve any stress than the gardens. Even a brief walk across the gardens will leave your mind worry free and fresh. So as finals weeks is approachig and stress keeps on exponentially growing, just take a 5 minute walk through the gardens to prepare your mind for those late nights at Perkins.

Springternational 2012

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Springternationl is Duke’s biggest annual campus-wide festival, and on Friday, April 13th, the International Association took over main quad with lots of fun and exciting booths, music, food trucks, trivia, henna and more.

As I learned in this article, Duke students love waiting in lines, and this instance proved no different as hundreds of students eagerly awaited free shirts (another thing we can’t get enough of)

The food options ranged from pie, to funnel cake, to bratwurst, to traditional Indian cuisine, to strawberry daiquiris, to fried rice… pretty much anything you could dream of.

I am personally a fan of the fresh cotton candy.

The International Association participants and hosts wore Where’s Waldo gear to match the festival’s theme.

Springternational is an annual festival, which celebrates all the international cultures represented at Duke. There were various student groups, food trucks and vendors at the main quad selling food for all tastes which was accompanied by several performances from student groups. Make sure to check back for more photos!
