16 Thoughts You Have When Everyone Around You Starts Getting Engaged

You’re scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed and in between the vacation pictures and inspirational quotes, you see the type of announcement most girls dread: Amanda and Kyle are engaged. Before you do anything else, you screenshot the news and text it to all of your friends, obviously. Though you know should be happy for the soon-to-be newlyweds, by the millionth time this happens, you kind of want to crawl up in a tiny ball and cry over a massive glass (maybe bottle) of wine. If you’re single, you can’t help but feel a tiny bit jealous, even though you don’t want to admit it. If you’re in a relationship, you wonder if and when you and your SO will take that next step. Here are 16 thoughts we all have when another one of our Facebook friends gets engaged.

1. About time… those two have been dating since junior high.

2. I wonder if I’ll be invited to the wedding. I’d better be.

3. OMG look at that ring—it’s gorgeous!

4. How does she look so flawless? She must have known he was going to propose and/or practiced looking good while crying.

5. Did she seriously get a fresh manicure before posting the picture?

6. He proposed on a holiday? How not original.

7. I hope I get proposed to in a cute way.

8. How can I think about getting engaged when I’m not even dating anyone?

9. Time for a glass of wine.

10. Another engagement?! Make it stop.

11. They’ve only known each other for a month. Isn’t that a little too soon for him to pop the question?

12. OMG look at that ring—it’s hideous.

13. Why is everyone getting engaged?

14. Aren’t we still too young for marriage?

15. How did I become the last single girl in my friend group?

16. Whatever, I’m awesome.

There is NOBODY coming between you, your wine and your cat—and that’s okay. Keep on being awesome.
