What to take away from the nominations:
- According to MTV.com, “Girls” upset “Parks and Recreation” for an expected nomination. Creator/writer/star Lena Dunham also was nominated for her acting and writing.
- The Washington Post reported that if “Mad Men” wins the ‘Best Drama Series’ category (as it has the past four years in a row) it will set a record for most wins by a drama series.
- The Washington Post also says that “American Horror Story” decided to place itself in the ‘Best Miniseries or Movie’ category as opposed to the drama category – and it paid off. It received 17 nominations and acting nods for stars Connie Britton, Jessica Lange, and Frances Conroy.
