Victim in UCLA Shooting was Gunman’s Professor

On Wednesday, UCLA turned into the scene of a shooting, killing one victim followed by the gunman taking his own life. As it turns out, the gunman’s victim was once his professor, USA Today reports.

The victim was William S. Klug, a mechanical and aerospace engineering professor. The shooter was a grad student named Mainak Sarkar. For months Sarkar had taken to social media to express his distrust for Klug. Sarkar shot his professor in UCLA’s engineering building, but no solid motive has not been confirmed.

Classes were cancelled for the rest of the day Wednesday, but have now resumed. And if that wasn’t difficult enough, this all comes the week before finals for UCLA students. But they can rest assured because the campus is now teeming with security in the form of policemen and federal agents.

Finals week is stressful enough, so we wouldn’t even want to imagine a tragedy like this right before it. Our hearts go out to you, UCLA. Keep your heads up during this difficult time.
