ICYMI, Rep. Blake Farenthold, a Republican from Texas, made some comments last week that can only be described as, um, interesting. In short, while criticizing the three “female Republican senators from the Northeast” for not supporting the GOP health care bill, Farenthold said, “if it was a guy from south Texas I might ask him to step outside and settle this Aaron Burr-style.” Yes, seriously, you read that right – in 2017 he challenged them to a duel.
Clearly, Senator Susan Collins of Maine, one of the three female GOP senators Farenthold was referring to, thinks his comments were just as ridiculous as we do: her entire clap back was accidentally caught on mic following a committee meeting and it’s basically the best thing ever.
According to the Huffington Post, Collins turned to Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, and thinking her mic had been turned off, asked him if he’d heard about Farenthold’s comments. At around 1:20, Reed can be heard telling Collins, “You know why he challenged you to a duel? Because you could beat the shit out of him!”

“He is huge,” Collins says in response. “He is so unattractive, it’s unbelievable.”
In the hot mic recording, Collins and Reed can also be heard commenting about President Trump. Reed says, “I think he’s crazy. I mean, I don’t say that lightly and as a kind of a goofy guy,” to which Collins responds, “I’m worried.”
Collins has since apologized for the comments caught by her mic, but TBH, I’ll just be over here LIVING for her and Reed’s savage responses and juicy government gossip – sorry not sorry.
