Indiana University is currently investigating a hazing incident in which there is “credible video evidence” of a fraternity member performing a sex act on a woman while another naked woman and other fraternity members watched, according to a statement from the school. The fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, has been suspended.
Our campus is committed to a culture of care. Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) is suspended immediately, pending investigation into hazing allegations.

The Indy Star reports, “A 29-second video is circulating on Twitter that purports to show a pledge performing a sex act on a woman as part of a hazing ritual. The video shows more than a dozen men watching the man and woman engage in a sex act on a bare mattress, while a second naked woman stands nearby. Music plays in the background while clapping and yelling or cheering can be heard in the background.”
Total Frat Move reported that the video shows a pledge performing oral sex on an alleged stripper while the other brothers or pledges cheer or perhaps wait their turn.
The national chapter of ATO has suspended the IU chapter of ATO while the investigation takes place. This isn’t the first time IU ATO has been in hot water—The national chapter of the organization kicked out more than 100 members of the fraternity in 2010 after investigating hazing and alcohol violations, according to The Exponent.
The university sent a letter to the fraternity on Wednesday night that lays out the terms of their suspension and advises them to cooperate.
An Indiana University student newspaper, Indiana Daily Student, published an article in April that described Indiana University’s chapter of ATO as “one of IU’s most infamous fraternities.”
With this horrifying video and a previous history with hazing and sexual assault, things are NOT looking good for IU ATO.
