The Internet Rallied Around This LGBT Bookstore & The Outcome Was Astonishing

It’s always important to support local, small businesses and especially book stores! Book stores seem to be going more and more extinct. But this cute story has come to save your soul (and this small LGBT bookstore!). It all started when Common Language Bookstore in Ann Arbor, Michigan posted a facebook update about sales being slow and providing a few suggestions for people to buy and read.

This caught the attention of Tumblr user Dadrielle, as The Mary Sue reported.

Dadrielle wrote: “I saw a sad facebook post from the gay bookstore back in Ann Arbor where I used to live about how they hadn’t sold any books that day so I went on their online store and bought a couple, and while you don’t get #deals like elsewhere online, I’d love it if y’all would consider buying your next gay book from them instead of like, Amazon.”

This post ended up being reblogged over 120,000 times and what happened because of this was life-changing for the Common Language Bookstore.

The store closes the post saying “All of you did this. You made it happen. And you can be a part of making that dream come true. In fact, you can be the most important part of making that dream come true. You can be an ambassador.”

If you want to contribute to the surge of online orders, check them out here! They have wonderful suggestions right on the front page. Happy queer reading!
