IHOP Is Officially Done With IHOb & Is Reuniting With Its Beloved Pancakes

In a thrilling conclusion to the IHOB -> IHOP saga, it turns out that the joke is on us.

IHOP announced on Monday that it’s going back to its original identity, the International House Of Pancakes.

For anyone blissfully unaware about what went down in the pancake-burger drama, last month the chain announced that it was changing its name. In a major marketing stunt, the company only announced the acronym at first, leaving many to speculate and investigate what in the world the “b” could stand for. Some thought it stood for “bees.” Others thought it stood for “booze.”

Many thought it would stand for “breakfast,” which honestly would have made more sense. Sadly, the change was simply to “burgers.” This was basically a plot to get people to remember that IHOP serves more than just pancakes.

We were apparently fooled because less than a month later the chain announced it was just kidding.

“We’re giving away 60 cent short stacks on July 17 from 7a-7p for IHOP’s 60th birthday. That’s right, IHOP! We’d never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers),” the chain posted on Facebook

“Just because we have pancakes doesn’t mean we can’t do anything but pancakes,” said IHOPs Darren Rebelez to Business Insider. “That’s what we’re after: Giving more people more reasons to come to IHOP more often.”

So long IHOB, you will be missed, but I am so ready for some delicious, 60 cent pancakes coming my way.
