The New York primaries could set the tone for the rest of the race for the presidential hopefuls. Voting began on Tuesday, which is why all of the candidates have been trying to prove that they have real “New York values.” Donald Trump was born and raised a New Yorker—This should have been easy for him.
Unfortunately for Trump, he confused 9/11 for the popular convenient store 7-Eleven during a rally on Monday.
“I wrote this out, and it’s very close to my heart,” Trump said in Buffalo on Monday night, according to CNN. “Because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down.”
According to New York Daily News, Trump has yet to say anything about this mistake.

“Despite its problems, we love this state,” Trump said in Buffalo. Among one of its “problems” is that head coach Rex Ryan of the Buffalo Bills has never brought home an NFL championship for New York. But when have facts ever gotten in the way of Trump’s stories? When Ryan introduced Trump to the stage in Buffalo, Trump said that the coach had “won championships” in New York—which isn’t true, either.
According CBS News, Trump went on a rant about winning after pointing out Ryan’s imaginary championships. “We’re gonna win at every element of what we’re doing! We’re gonna win with the military! We’re gonna win with everything. We’re gonna win so much! You’re gonna get tired of winning! You’re gonna be saying from Buffalo, ‘Please please, Mr. President, we don’t want any more business!”
Maybe the candidates are trying to prove their “New York values,” but mixing up a store where we buy mini donuts and slurpees with a national tragedy is a little extreme. New York’s voting for their nominee begins today, so they’ll decide whether that slip-up was enough to lose Trump his lead.
