3 Middle Tennessee State University Students Shot at Party

Three Middle Tennessee State University students were shot and injured at an end-of-the-year party over the weekend, according to the Daily News Journal.

Trina Taylor, a neighbor of the house where the party occurred, told the Journal that the overcrowded house seemed to be filled with college students.

“It’s the end of the semester, a lot of them were through with finals,” Taylor said.

Taylor wasn’t the only concerned neighbor on the street.

When 26-year-old Saqer Saeed Alzahrani heard a fight break out at the party at 1 a.m., he decided to leave his apartment and investigate. He was shot in the in his lower left arm and his left side, according to Murfreesboro Police Officer Jessica Hawkins. Police identified 24-year-old Anatius Burns as a second victim, and 20-year-old Dynasty Freeman as the third. All three are okay and have been released from the hospital.

No one has been arrested for the shooting, and the police are continuing to investigate.

This incident goes to show how dangerous mixing stress with partying can be. The party was happening as finals were ending. The shooting was a result of a fight that broke out. As college students, we should find better ways to de-stress than cramming as many stressed-out people as possible into one place. Safety should always be a top priority.
