A 100-Year-Old Model Was Featured in Vogue, and She’s Amazing

Her name is Marjorie ‘Bo’ Gilbert and she’s from Aberdare, Wales. She has just become the first 100-year-old model to appear in Vogue, crushing Sports Illustrated’s accomplishment of featuring a 56-year-old swimsuit model. Gilbert was chosen over handfuls of willowy and flawless 16-25 year-old models.

Dressed in Valentino glasses and a Victoria Beckham top, Gilbert smiled for her photographer, Phil Poynter. Her photos are advertisements for the British department store, Harvey Nichols. Business Insider reports that the ad campaign was in celebration of British Vogue’s one hundredth birthday. The photos are featured in the May issue of British Vogue.

In a video the company made about Gilbert, she reflects on the way fashion has changed, “I always remember seeing a lady in a trouser suit and I had never seen a lady in a trouser suit before and it really caught my eye!”

Her adorable accent, classic style, and desire to present herself well is inspiration to thousands.

“I do things that I think a lot of people wouldn’t do at my age. I always liked keeping myself looking quite decent even if I wasn’t going out. ” Gilbert says in the video.

She also adds something that women around the world should take to heart: “I certainly don’t dress up for boys,” she declares.

And we shouldn’t either.
