What are you hobbies?
Playing soccer, going on hikes or any outdoor activities, traveling, and going to the beach.

What do you enjoy most in life?
My favorite thing in this world is my family. They are my biggest supporters and role models.

How would you describe yourself in three words?
Generous, positive, and easygoing.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Cabo San Lucas for my brother’s bachelor party. I can’t really tell you the details!

Why did you decide to come to Oregon?
The academics, campus, sports, and party scene are all everything I ever wanted in a college.

What do you look for in a girl?
Someone who doesn’t take herself or life too seriously. I like a girl who has interests and who is goal-oriented. Above all else, she needs to be down to earth–too many girls I see are way too into insignificant things like gossip and expensive luxuries. If you like sports and can play video games, not going lie, that’s a major turn on, I think any guy could say that.

What is your biggest turnoff when it comes to girls?
Girls who KNOW they are hot s***t. Girls who can’t take a joke. And finally, girls who expect a lot.

How would you describe your ideal date?
I haven’t been on that many dates, so I am usually up for anything! Doing something unexpected and different usually makes the night more fun and interesting.

Who is your biggest man crush?
Ryan Gosling. I can’t deny it… he is one sexy beast. Have you ever seen Crazy, Stupid, Love? Exactly.

Favorite TV shows: That ’70s Show, Lost

Favorite Movies: Rush Hour, Once
Favorite Food: Mexican, Italian, My mom’s chicken chili
Favorite Musicians: Glen Hansard, Dream Theater, Explosions in the Sky.  I like all music, but I struggle listening to death metal and really country music.

What do you think of UC Irvine?
It’s definitely the opposite of what I thought it was going to be…  I think we have a lot of cool professors and opportunities.

Do you have any siblings?
I have three brothers.

Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I’m totally a dog person.

Where is your favorite place to travel?
I really like Japan.  The culture over there is all about community rather than America where it’s very individualistic.  One time I went to a train station in Japan and this man was trying to ask me if I needed help with my ticket.  He didn’t even speak English and he was trying to help me!

What do you look for in a girl?
Someone who’s willing to teach and be taught, a dynamic where you have a solid foundation and you’re both able to learn new things from each other.  When you come into the relationship, the other person should be able to make you stronger.

What do you want to do after graduation?
I would like to work at Google or Apple, that’d be really cool.  Or be a teacher, I really like teaching.  Or maybe take a break and go overseas to do relief work.

Hector Bransford is a third-year transfer student from CSULA. He is a local from Riverside, and his major is Political Science. He is involved with the campus organization Latino Union, and hopes to get involved in soccer intramurals. Sorry ladies, he is currently taken, and has been for four years! But hey, doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to make new friends!

What are some of your hobbies?
I like to play soccer and I like to run. I also like going to concerts. The latest concert I have been to was the Black Keys on October 16th!

What do you look for in a girl?
I like a smart and athletic girl. I would also like her to be outgoing, not shy. She should also have a good sense of humor!

What is something you really dislike to see in a girl’s personality?
I don’t like when a girl is bossy. I don’t mind doing favors, but when they reach a point of demanding instead of asking, it’s really frustrating.

What’s your favorite food to eat?
Oh gosh, I love eating at Buca di Beppo. Italian restaurants are probably my favorite.

What is your favorite thing about UCR?
Probably the community. Everyone here is more friendly and social, compared to high school and Cal State LA, which is the school I just transferred from.

What do you think is your best quality?
I think that my best quality is that I am tall, dark, and handsome. Ha-ha. Just kidding. I think my best quality is that I am hard working, both in my job and in school.

What has been the best date you have been on?
I think the best date I have been on was when I took my girlfriend to see John Mayer. That’s her favorite artist. I got her tickets for our second year anniversary. She cried at first, which caught me off guard, but apparently they were lots of tears of joy. I had never seen her that excited, which made me happy.

Name: Han Chiu
Year: First Year
Major: Undeclared
Hometown: La Jolla, California

Celebrity crush:
I don’t really have a celebrity crush… but do you know who Xufei is? She’s a Chinese singer, but I guess if I had to pick an American actress, Ellen Page.

Hobbies:
I like to play piano, fold origami, I like biking a lot, and I play a lot of sports (um soccer, lacrosse, basketball and volleyball)… That’s about it. Oh, I like to sleep. And I play a lot of League of Legends.

Cute face or smoking body:
Cute face. (Why?) Hmm… I don’t know. It’s generally just more attractive to me. I think cute faces are just cuter. Truthfully, the thing that draws me most to a girl is actually voice. I had a lot of long distance relationships, so physical features don’t become as important sometimes when you just want to hear her voice over the phone, and that means a lot more to you than how her face or body looks.

Favourite memory so far at UCLA?
The very first day when I first moved in, I didn’t actually see my roommates, but I saw that he had moved all his stuff in. So we talked to each other through [a piece of paper], writing to each other through that. So I guess my favourite memory was meeting my wonderful roommates, Miguel and Andrew. They’ve always been there for me, they’re like my brothers. We always mess around with each other too (laugh).

Ever have a funny story of where/when you got hit on?
Ohh I have a really funny story! There’s a gym I used to work out in in China. There was a rowing machine, and I would always do squats in front of that because there was a mirror. And when I was doing squats, there was this one guy who would always sit behind me and watch me while I was squatting, and I thought it was the most awkward thing in the world! One day in the shower rooms – you’re not really wearing anything in there you know? – once in the shower rooms the guy looks at me and says “nice butt.” And I’m just like “ah, thank you,” and just walked away. It was one of the most embarrassing things I did… true story.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
I’ve always wanted to visit more exotic areas like Tibet, or India, and I really want to go backpacking, maybe at some random place in Europe where it’s not highly populated.

Dream date:
There’s this really pretty place by my house, called Back Bay Loop, and it’s only accessible by bike. When you get there you can climb down a cliff to a beach area. At this beach area you swim around a cove and you end up in another sandy area. When the sun sets, dolphins will come swim close to us, and you don’t want to scare them off so you don’t jump in, but they swim right there. To take a girl there would be my ideal date; they call it Couple’s Cove actually, and not a lot of people know about it.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy playing basketball, hiking, and watching cartoons. I’m still a little kid at heart.

What’s your favorite thing about going to school at UCLA?
Everyone here is so friendly! I make new friends every day and it’s that level of community that makes coming to school here so enjoyable.

Any plans for after graduation?
My dream is to go to medical school and complete a MD-PhD program but who knows where life will end up taking me!

What’s your funniest pick up line?
The human body has 206 bones. I have 207 when I’m with you.

Describe your perfect date.
I’d be happy to just go on a date so I’m really not that picky haha…but I’m a big outdoorsy guy so I am a huge fan of hikes! A late afternoon hike followed by dinner sounds perfect to me. Quaint but perfect.

Who’s your celebrity crush?
Oooooh this is really tough. Man oh man it’s close but I think I’d have to go with Hayden Panettiere.

What qualities would your dream girl have?
I think the greatest quality a girl can have is the ability to make other people laugh. So humor is obviously a big one. She would have to be somewhat knowledgeable about sports and I should also be able to have a prolonged intelligent discussion with her. She also shouldn’t be embarrassed about putting herself out there and just having a good time. As for physical features, it sounds cheesy but smiling genuinely is unbelievably attractive. Sometimes a girl will just smile at me and I will literally melt (my friends just mop me up it’s not a big deal).

Alright, last question. If you would go anywhere in the world where would it be?
I would LOVE to go to Thailand. First of all the food is out of this world. I would go to Thailand just for the pad thai if I could. Secondly the country has screensaver-worthy beaches and mountains. It is just a absolutely gorgeous country with such a rich cultural history. I can’t wait to go there one day.

What’s your idea of the perfect girl for you?
One that makes you dizzy like you have been drinking jack and coke all morning.

What is your biggest turnoff?
A girl who cant’ prove Einstein theory of relativity, E=MC^2. Basically a girl who doesn’t pride herself in her education.

Beauty or Brains?
Without brains can beauty exist? You will have to refer to shakespeare on that one.

What’s the one thing every girl should know about boys?
That men are like artichokes. You must work a little before you can get to the heart.

What are three things you can’t live without?
A mothers love, literature, and a 30 pound dumbbell.

Favorite Holiday Song:
All I want for Christmas is You-Mariah Carey

What Do You Look For in a Girl:
Confidence, beautiful smile, laughs a lot,  & above average sandwich making abilities.

Perfect Date:
Tandem skydiving in Hawaii would be dope. There’s just something about jumping out of a plane that can bring two people closer. But sometimes just kicking it and watching a movie is the best.

Adrianna Lima and Gisele Bundchen

What do you do in your spare time?
When I’m not at school or busy I surf and play bass guitar. I also like to roam the city with my friends.

How do you stay fit?
Surfing keeps me pretty fit but I also like to do some swimming, a bit of running, and weights. When I’m back in Newport I paddle my paddleboard around the bay.

What are your likes/dislikes about living in San Francisco?
I like that everyone is very friendly and easy to talk to. I have met a lot of friendly people that I genuinely get along with. I dislike the hills -walking up them can get annoying.

What do you look for in a girl?
I typically look for a blonde or a brunette who is easy-going and funny. I like girls who can be independent and do something in their free time that they are passionate about (like me). A good personality stands out more than looks.

What are your pet-peeves?
It gets on my nerves when people don’t say ‘please and thank you.” Also, I dislike it when people bite their nails, burp out-loud, and chew with their mouth open.

What is a deal breaker when on a date?
If I had to name five things that are deal breakers they would have to be:
1. Burping out loud.
2. Not being able to hold a conversation (how are we supposed to date if I can’t talk to you).
3. Talking about your ex.
4. Texting at the table.
5. Doesn’t laugh at my cheesy jokes.
