This month is all about jetsetting. After spending a weekend in Italy, my next stop was naturally London! I woke up early (okay, stayed up all night…) and caught the 7:00 a.m. flight to the world’s most fashionable city. I took a train into the city and wandered around until it was time to meet my friends from AU. I spent the day covering all the tourist hot spots: Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Harrod’s… You know the drill. After all, it was my first time to London.
My favorite place by far was Harrod’s. You can find literally anything and everything there. From upscale fashion to dim sum and cosmetics, Harrod’s has it all. Of course, I had to buy something, so I got a delicious pastry for less than £2! That night, we went to Banana Tree for dinner since it was London Restaurant Week. The pan-asian food was delicious, and I loved the cozy, vibrant atmosphere.
The next day, we went to a French restaurant for a late lunch then went to Portobello Market in Kensington. This market is definitely one of my all-time favorites. Where else can you find crepes, vintage jewelry, souvenirs and porcelain tea cups all in the same place?
I had a great time catching up with friends and soaking up the British sunshine (definitely beats the all-too-familiar Scottish rain). However, I am sad to report that I didn’t see Kate or Pippa… but hey, what can you do, right? I hope I can visit London again before the end of the semester.
My jetsetting lifestyle continues—now off to Dublin!
