Boston Math Professor Accused of Running a Meth Lab

A math professor at Boston University and Suffolk University has been accused of allegedly running a meth lab out of her Somerville apartment with her 20-year-old son, Grigory Genkin.

Irina Kristy, 74, was placed on administrative leave at Suffolk University, but continues to teach full time at BU. According to the Boston Globe, she will be arraigned later this month on charges that include distribution of meth, conspiracy to violate the drug law, and drug violation in a school zone.

On Nov. 7, a bomb squad removed a large amount of hazardous material from Kristy’s apartment.

On Ratemyprofessors.com, the Russian professor was rated poorly numerous times. An influx of commentary has been left on the site after news of the investigation broke this week.
