9 Situations Only People Who Suppress Their Feelings Can Relate To

Those who suppress their feelings are no strangers to regret about things left unsaid. The amount of reasons you lock up your genuine emotions are endless. It's not that you care about protecting your feelings—you simply choose to hold it all in until you explode. After all, if you don't acknowledge there's a problem, does it even exist?

1. When you sit through a sad movie without shedding a tear

It may be hard, but the ability to keep all those emotions under wraps is a testament to your true strength. To some, you may come off as "heartless," but you're just willing yourself to stay strong. The feels you experience are very real. Nobody can keep a straight face the way you do.

2. Getting stuck with lazy people during a group project

So many things you'd like to say, so many emotions (mainly anger) you choose not to express. You're secretly afraid you may actually lose it during your presentation.

3. You pretend not to care about the discussion when those around you are in a heated debate on a controversial topic

Everyone thinks you're as cool as a cucumber. But really, you've got some pretty strong opinions In your head. You know there is a right or wrong side to take. Obviously, your view on the matter is the correct one, but you won't ever say it.

4. When your friend does or says something offensive, you won't admit it bothered you

Rest assured, a grudge will be formed. That grudge will likely be held until the end of eternity.

5. Having those days when everyone from the waiter at a restaurant to that person sharpening their pencil for too long easily gets on your nerves

You're seething on the inside. But nobody will know because outward frustration leads to questioning and questioning leads to talking about the feelings you've worked so hard to squash.

6. "I'm fine" is the only answer people will get when they ask if anything is bothering you

If I don't acknowledge my ill feelings, they don't exist. So, there's no problem. Right?!

7. Your crush likely has no clue the way you feel about them

And they likely never will. Your subtle "I will show no emotion or signs of caring about you and your life" game is too strong.

8. When you witness your friend making a bad decision but you refuse to shake sense into them

You couldn't care less on the outside. Yet, you're screaming internally. You convince everyone you couldn't care less in order to avoid stirring the pot. You don't want people to think you actually do care.

9. That overwhelming desire to curl up in a ball and cry upon receiving a bad grade

As Cameron Diaz from The Other Woman once said, "Cry on the inside like a winner." Preach girl, preach.

When life gets hard, you know the best thing to do is to set all those feelings and emotions free. But the reality of what you actually do is totally different. Just get in the breakdown lane and cry about it—on the inside, of course.
