Lose the Freshman 15: Celebrate the Weekend With Low Calorie Drinks

Happy Saturday, collegiettes! One of my favorite things about the SELF Drop 10 Diet (aside from the fact that it’s been working like a charm—weighing in at 150.5 at the moment!) is that I have those 200 Happy Calories a day to spend. Not only does it make being on a diet feel less restricting, but it also has changed the way I think about my eating habits. Now, foods that I would normally shove in my mouth without a second thought are things that feel like treats and ultimately, are more enjoyable for it.

In honor of it being Saturday, I’ve rounded up my favorite 200 calorie (and under) mixed drinks—AKA my favorite way to spend my Happy Calories when it’s the freakin’ weekend, baby, and I’m about to have me some fun.

(Unless my mom is reading this, in which case, I’m kidding. I don’t drink at all, mom.)

1. Gin and Tonic. This classic comes in at around 190 calories—less if you request diet tonic!

2. Mojito. My favorite trick to health-ify one of my favorite drinks? Request honey instead of syrup. And if you get a weird look from the bartender? Make your own and earn those Happy Calories.

3. Sour Apple Martini. Pucker up for just under 200 calories.

4. Vodka Greyhound. AKA Vodka and grapefruit juice. Yum.

5. Lemon Drop Martini. Okay, so I’m a little martini obsessed, but come on! It’s only 125 calories.

6. Tequila Sunrise. Normally I would stay far away from tequila while on a diet, but come on, SELF doesn’t call them Happy Calories for nothing!

7. Midori Sour. My personal favorite: melon liqueur, whisky sour mix, Sprite soda and cherries. Delicious, neon, and still under 200 calories. Doesn’t get much better than that!
