Today is Monday and you know what that means — it’s weigh in day! And a scary one at that.

The last two weeks had a lot of diet-breaker days, including Max’s formal and my 21st birthday. Oh and there was that whole Spring Break in Vegas thing too. Needless to say, I was more than a little nervous to step on that scale this morning.

But! I did it anyway and it wasn’t good. It wasn’t bad either, though. I ended up staying the exact same weight for those two weeks. I started at 138 pounds and now I’m at 135.5, keeping my weight loss at 2.5 pounds.  Like I said, not good and not bad — it could have been much better and it could have been much, much worse.

So, I’ve decided that I’m going to treat this as a fresh start. I’m going to forget about the last two weeks of no weight loss (or gain!) and treat today like a new beginning. Here are a few things I’m going to do differently:

No more restaurants: When I was in Las Vegas, I was without a kitchen and forced to eat at restaurants for every meal — not that I minded at the time. The food was so good! But, it really hindered my ability to lose weight. I’m going to start to follow the Jump Start Diet more strictly and do a better job at counting my calories, which means no more eating at restaurants.

More cardio: Even though I still worked out last week and the week before, I could have done more. I probably did cardio about three days a week — two less than what the Jump Start Diet requires. I think the minimal amount of cardio still helped me to keep from gaining weight, but upping it to five or six days a week will help me actually lose weight.

Tweet everything I eat: I’m going to be much better about what I eat and I’m going to have my twitter followers help me. By tweeting out what I have for every meal, my followers can hold me accountable. Knowing that I have to tell 75 (and counting) people what I had for breakfast, lunch and dinner will be just another inspiration to be super healthy. (Follow me on twitter! @SamGetsHealthy)

Set short-term goals: While my long-term goal is to lose 18 pounds, I want to start setting weekly goals. With seven weeks left and 15.5 pounds to go, I need to lose about 2.5 pounds every week. I think this is a very realistic goal. Each weigh in day, I will post my goal from the previous week and whether or not I met it, as well as my next goal.

My goal is to lose 3 pounds this week.

Starting over,
