“I love the U of M! We have so many great services that students don’t know about, so I would love to have those things promoted more heavily. From the Cruz center for entrepreneurship, to the events on campus, we need to spread the word about what the U of M has to offer.”
"Spring fling is always the best! Last year there was so much food and Big Sean. I didn’t know any of his songs but that was one of the best concerts I’ve been to. And I got to make my own t-shirt too which was pretty darn good.”
“It’s a really big school, you will always run into people that you know.”
"I think the U of M is the perfect place to find out who you are, because of the diversity on so many levels and the resources to get you where you want to go.”
“We need to work on better engaging commuter students so the University is a place they love and a place they will give back to when they graduate.”
“I really wish there were more students that attended University events and that more students took pride in their University. I also wish people would actually pay attention to the “no smoking rules.”
“I hate the U of M train. The food is getting on my nerves now. I’ve eaten it for the past year and a half and now I’m done.”
“We need more parking. With it being such a commuter school, we should have more parking spaces.”
New Collegiette On Campus
"It is pretty amazing being a first-year at the University of Memphis. There are so many opportunities offered to incoming students. The first few months of the semester are spent trying to persuade all students, but especially first-years to get involved on campus."
"Orientation is a two-day program specifically tailored for first-years and getting them excited about attending the university. While at orientation, students get to see what it’s like to live on campus, meet professors, and learn university traditions. The orientation guides are current students who offer inside information on what it’s actually like to be a student here and meet other first-years as well. Students also get to meet with their advisor and register for classes."
"Upperclassmen are very accessible to first-years and very friendly. First-years might stick together just from knowing each other or for comfort, but it’s very easy to get to know upperclassmen."
"Frosh Camp is a getaway for first-years with current students serving counselors. This is where future tigers officially earn their stripes. Students learn all of the ins and outs of the university and ultimately how to be successful here."
"Frosh Frenzy is a chance for the first-years to band together and get to run on to the football field during the marching band’s pre-game show. This is just an opportunity to connect with freshmen and be on the Liberty Bowl field."

“I think it's cool that the (football) players hangout with all the students because really they aren't better than anyone else. Some times athletes think they should be treated like kings because they throw a ball or kick a ball, but really the ones who take their school seriously and are good at sports are the real MVPs.When I see the guys (football players) talking to people it reminds me that they're just like us.”
Our basketball team is known to get media attention since the program is run at a high level. This past season our football team had one of our best seasons ever and won the first annual Miami Beach Bowl. We have had over 50 athletes go on and be successful at the professional level and they take their Tiger Pride with them as they go.
The U of M also offers both intramural and club sports which are open to all students. There are annually around 2,000 participates in intramurals. They offer at least 15 sports each year for intramurals. Some of these include the basic ones like basketball, flag football, soccer, and softball, but there are also unique ones such as kan jam, water polo, and battleship. Club sports at the u of m currently has 7 active clubs which are all student led and ran. There are around 200 students who participate in club sports. The largest club is rugby. Closely followed by soccer.
“I love that I can compete in sports and it not be a committed and serious as if I was playing for the school team,” Joe Pascarella, member of the club soccer team, said.
