“ISU is located in a very rural area. I don’t mind it though; there are lots of cool places to check out in Uptown Normal. Most places you’ll need to get to are within walking distance, but if not the town of Normal provides a free bus service for students.”
“Shopping in this area is AWFUL. If you want to go to a mall with a variety of decent stores, you have to take a trip to Champagne or Peoria.”
“If you’re a runner there are lots of cool places to explore in the area surrounding ISU’s campus. We have the Constitution Trail that runs all over Bloomington and Normal. Also, the historic district of Normal is beautiful to run through.”
“I always feel like the students at ISU really respect the fact that our campus is located literally within a town and ISU is not the only thing that comprises the area. Many “townies” or people who live in town go to school here as well, or frequent areas around the campus. Everyone is super nice and respectful to one another.”
