Why Choose Hamilton?
"I chose Hamilton College because of how beautiful it was and how comfortable I felt there. There is nothing better than an Upstate New York Fall. On my tour automatically could picture myself living there."
" It's got something for everyone! Whether its concerts or Acoustic Coffee Houses, the College has something for everyone."
"The College works really hard to bring speakers of all varities to campus. One of the most impressive event they have is the Great Names speakers series. Last year we had Hillary Clinton on the hill and this year we expect Derek Jeter."
"The campus is absolutely beautiful. Even during the cold winter months, the campus is still a winter wonder land."
"Transportation could be improved. During the day the college runs a van called the Jitney around town, but it takes a long time and since first years cannot have cars it is hard to get around the surrounding areas. Hamilton is also kind of in the middle of no where so it can be a little boreing at times"
"The Heating could definitely be improved. During the seeminly eternal winter, some of the dorms never get seem to get warm, and others feel like saunas."
New Collegiette on Campus
"Freshmen's emails are always full of club emails. The campus tries really hard to involve first-years in campus life, starting from the first week of the semester."
"Freshman year is all about self-discovery, and the college really encourages it. The motto of the pre-orientation trips is challege by choice and the whole college really reflects this."
All About Academics
"Academically, the Hamilton is one of the top liberal arts colleges, and you really get that sense from both the students and the professors. The professors are willing to work with any student who is willing to work hard, so don't wait until it's too late to ask for help! If you don't understand something, talk to someone who does. Be proactive!."
"The college also features an open curriculum, which means there are no mandatory classes. This really gives students the freedom to focus on their interests, while also exploring other fields."
Learn From the Best
"Since it is such a small campus, the upperclassmen are eager to get to know the new students and help them adjust to campus. Some of the best advice they can give is that college will be hard, but if you do what you love and get help when you need, you will be happy here."
"Go to Opus, our campus coffee house, any chance you get. The food is fantastic and the staff, mostly students, is so friendly."
Interests & Involvement
"You name it, we've got it, and if not, you can create it: Greek Life, Team Sports, Club Sports, Intramurals, Envriomental, Dance, Art, Grilling, Knitting, and much more!"
"Hamilton literally has something for everyone. If you were in a club in high school, we most likely have it and if you want to try something new, we have so many opportunites. Try the figure skating club or the culinary society."
"Go Conts! Games for all sports are a big deal. Along with students, families come to most games and tailgate afterward. There is so much food and support. The teams also try to give back to the community. This years women's field hockey team support a young girl, Sophia, with a terminal illness."
"For football games and Basketball games, the dance team preforms and really helps to raise the level of team spirit."
"While Hamilton doesn't make a dinsticntion between guys and girls, the girls on this campus are amazing. From leading out club trips to heading philanthropy clubs, the women are involved in all aspects of campus life."
"There is a great community of women on this campus. There are always events that highlight the successes of the women on this campus and bring awareness of important issues facing women, such as body images and rape culture."
Food & Drink
"Opus, the on campus cafe, is one of the best parts of campus life. The barriastas are students and the drinks are great. Even better are the warm cookies and vegetarian lunches that Opus serves. Try the mango brie painini or hummus wrap."
"The Diner is another famous part of the Hamilton campus. An alterantive to the dining halls, but still part of the meal plan, the Diner serves up your typical diner food and opens lates on weekends to serve breakfast to the late night crowds."
"Hamilton works really hard to keep the students entertained. They aim to bring at least one concert each semester, and for Class and Charter Day, our last day of classes, there is an outdoor day concert!"
"The social scene is really diverse. There is plenty of parting for those who want it, but there are also LatNite events that provide substance free activities. Also due to all the different organizations one campus, such as sports, Greek, or performace groups, there always seems to be some kind of formal going on."
"Hamilton has many choices for dorm life. From suites with thier own living room and kitchen, to quads, triples, doubles, and singles, there is housing for every taste."
"There is a great community feel in the dorms, especially freshman year. This is the type of place where you can just go knock on your neighbors door and hang out when your bored."
"Clinton is your classic cute small town. The downtown has that one classy restaurant you only go to when your parents visit, the local bars for college students, and so many cute shops and cafes. The best part though is the Clinton Cider Mill, which makes the best apple cider doughnuts in the fall."
"Clinton is also your classic upstate New York town. It is absolutely beautiful! The leaves in the fall are priceless and the snow is pristine. There are so many great places to hike near by and enjoy the nature."
