New Collegiette on Campus
Eckerd College makes sure that all Freshman are completely comfortable on Campus before the Fall Semester starts. Eckerd has a unique program called Autumn Term where incoming Freshman move into campus in the beginning of August and take one course that is 3 weeks long for 3 hours a day. Autumn term is like a 3 week long orientation! Freshmen have the opportunity to adjust to college life and make friends before they are overwhelmed with 4 courses and the presence of upper-classmen on campus. Everyone loves Autumn Term; we call it "Camp Eckerd".
Some upper-classmen called activators are on campus to assist Freshmen in the transition to college. They run the various activities offered to Freshman. Sophomore Julia says, "So far autumn term has been my favorite part of Eckerd!"

Learn From the Best
Eckerd College has many wonderful professors and becasue Eckerd is such a close-knit community, students and professors have wonderful relationships. Professors at Eckerd are generally extremely flexible about Office Hours and are willing to meet with students whenever. One of Eckerd's longstanding monthly traditions is "Pitchers with Professors."
Professors also work closely with students. No class is ever entirely taught by a TA.
Each student is assigned a mentor in the department of their intended major. Mentors and Mentees generally develop close, personal relationships.
