You Need to See Amy Poehler’s ‘Smart Girls’ Web Series Starring Megan Amram

If you don’t know about Megan Amram by now, you should listen up. Megan Amram is a comedian, writer, and Harvard graduate. She wrote for a little show called Parks and Recreation, authored a hilarious book—Science…for Her!—and is now starring in a new web series on Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls network.

“Experimenting with Megan Amram” is a smart and comical show in which Megan pokes fun at the gender stereotypes and double standards that exist for professional women. She draws the viewer in with her jokes, and then moves into an interview portion. Megan features one female in a STEM field per episode, and asks questions about her current projects and research.

By featuring women in predominately male fields, Megan is empowering young girls and teaching them to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering and math. At the end of each episode, Megan includes a link to a downloadable science experiment that kids can do themselves, such as making a potato clock or a baking soda and vinegar volcano.
