Wait, This ’13 Reasons Why’ Star Had A Cameo In Selena Gomez’s ‘Love You Like A Love Song’?

As 13 Reasons Why‘s executive producer, Selena Gomez holds a special relationship with the series. But did Selena also have a “special relationship” with one of the Netflix show’s cast members? Rumor has it that Timothy Granaderos, who plays Montgomery de la Cruz, was featured in Selena’s “Love You Like A Love Song” music video. Talk about a throwback!

When asked by Seventeen magazine about the guy who is clearly him in Selena’s hit 2011 video, Granaderos said, “Nah, that guy in the mariachi band playing the futuristic flute wearing Donatello’s purple eye mask who looks just like me isn’t me… definitely not me… but if you look closely, it’s me.” So you might say Selena and Timothy have some history together. See his cameo in the video for yourself starting at time stamp 2:35.

In season 2 of 13RW, we begin to get a better glimpse at Timothy’s character and things get majorly intense. Based off of his Monty persona, viewers have been giving Timothy some heavy backlash. Timothy’s 13 Reasons Why co-stars even launched the hashtag #timisnotmonty, in order to clear the air and remind viewers that Monty is not associated with the type of person Timothy is in real life.

“Most of the threats are towards Monty, not me! Monty’s actions have sparked some strong emotional responses. And to be honest, I would be shocked if people weren’t reacting the way they are,” he told Seventeen. “Our fans are very passionate and I love them for that.”
