It’s been three years since Gossip Girl went off the air, but we are still SO invested in the show. Especially given the numerous times we’ve binge-watched all six seasons, it’s hard to imagine anybody else playing Serena, Dan, Blair, Chuck, Nate and the rest of the GG gang. So when we learned that Ashley Olsen was thisclose to playing Blair Waldorf and that casting director David Rapaport was after Rumer Willis for the spot of Serena, we were just like, no.
Thankfully, the internet has granted us with proof that such a casting decision never could have happened: Blake Lively’s audition tape.
In the video, Blake reads the scene from the first episode where Serena returns from boarding school and tries to reconcile her friendship with Blair—and it is perfection. We’re officially convinced that she and Serena van der Woodsen are the same person.
