Nicki Minaj Encourages Women to Ask for Equal Pay

Nicki Minaj is by far one of our favorite female rappers and feminists because she’s never afraid to call people out on their misogyny. She was recently named one of “Time’s 100 Most Influential People” and now she’s using her new platform to express a very important message about equal pay for women.

In a video interview with Time, she blatantly encourages women to ask for higher pay, and we are thrilled about it. Minaj shares her own experience in the music industry and tells the story of when she had to ask to make the same six figures everyone else did because she deserved it and worked for it.

“If you know you’re great at what you do, don’t ever be ashamed to ask for the top dollar in your field. If I’m great at what I do, I can’t be denied,” she says.

This is definitely something for us collegiettes to consider as most of us will soon be entering the work field. Don’t be afraid to own your worth ladies, in every aspect of your life and monetarily!
