This New Twitter Feature Guarantees Your Favorite Shows Will Never Be Spoiled Again

You might want to start using the “mute” button for more than just people you don’t want to see on your feed. Twitter just made it easy for users to mute specific words, phrases and hashtags so you don’t see them on your timeline, making it stress-free to scroll without spoiling your fave show. Thank you, Twitter.

Finally you can browse in peace without the horrifying realization that you just read a spoiler-y tweet about the How to Get Away with Murder finale. Trust me, I’ve been there and it’s heartbreaking.

The time frame for which you mute is also totally up to you. Hide those Bachelor live tweets for as long as you need. One day? For the rest of eternity? The choice is yours. And the addition is not case sensitive, so all variations of a phrase will be blocked.

This function doesn’t only apply to TV shows either—you can mute *any* word, phrase or hashtag.

Though this new feature will be a saving grace for Twitter junkies, muted words won’t be blocked from your searches, so be careful!

Brb, going to mute anything and everything involving Pretty Little Liars so I don’t get spoiled before the premiere.

Abbey is a senior at the University of Wyoming and is currently majoring in Journalism. She couldn't imagine a world without Jesus, coffee, The 1975, Twitter or her family. You'll usually find her at a concert or cafe somewhere, which is where she spends majority of her free-time. Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.
