In the recently released trailer for season two of 13 Reasons Why—the controversial Netflix series in which a teenage girl commits suicide, leaving a trail of cassette tapes with reasons for her death—a mysterious polaroid falls out of Clay Jensen’s (Dylan Minnette) locker, with the caption “Hannah wasn’t the only one,” taped behind it. This uncovers a dark new mystery for Clay and his “friends” to solve.
The trailer reveals snapshots of scenes, from Clay having visions of Hannah (Katherine Langford), Jessica (Alisha Boe) being bullied and slut-shamed for not speaking out about her sexual assault, and Bryce (Justin Prentice) being called out for being a rapist. The polaroids make an appearance throughout, and I can’t help but wonder who could be behind all of them. (I’m telling you, it’s INTENSE.)
The official description states season two “picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.”
Season two of 13 Reasons Why premieres May 18 on Netflix.
