That’s right, one of our favorite funny ladies can now add rapper to her repertoire. In a series of promos for this week’s Saturday Night Live, Melissa McCarthy is endlessly funny while getting her nails done alongside SNL cast member Vanessa Bayer. Melissa will be this week’s host with musical guest Kanye West.
Melissa’s comedic prowess is in full effect when making up nail polish names, getting confused between ‘polish’ and ‘Polish,’ and making a classic dad joke about how her manicurist “nailed it.”
The real kicker, though, is when Vanessa and Melissa strike up a conversation about their favorite Kanye songs. Vanessa’s is the anthemic “Stronger” from Kanye’s Graduation album, while Melissa’s is “Butterscotch Man” which, according to her, is from his “third or fifteenth” album. (Just in case you were wondering, Kanye has only released seven studio albums). She then goes on to rap the lyrics to this apparently long-lost Kanye song: “B-b-b-b-butterscotch man/ tater tot yam/ put in my ham (ham)/ butterscotch man.”
A true lyrical genius, that Melissa McCarthy. And who knows? Maybe Kanye will perform “Butterscotch Man” on this week’s SNL. Stranger things have happened…
