Lindsay Lohan Pushing for ‘Mean Girls 2’ to Happen is Basically All of Us

This is not a drill: It may be 12 years since everyone’s favorite fetch AF movie was made, but it turns out there’s still hope for a Mean Girls sequel – and it turns out Lindsay Lohan herself is on our side and rooting for it to happen.

In her recent Facebook Live chat with CNN on Thursday, Lohan said she’s been begging Paramount Pictures, which produced the original movie, for a sequel for years.

“I have been trying so hard to do a Mean Girls 2. It is not in my hands,” she said. “I know Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels and all of Paramount are very busy. But I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it.”

Lohan is so serious about the idea that she revealed she’s even tried to get the ball rolling by writing a treatment and thinking about what celebs would join the cast, telling CNN that she’d love to have Jimmy Fallon and Jamie Lynn Curtis (Freaky Friday reunion, anyone?) star in the sequel.

While it seems like kind of a long shot (according to E!, Lohan previously mentioned asking Tina Fey for a sequel after the movie’s 10th anniversary in 2014), we’re still holding out hope for Regina and Cady to make a comeback – complete with the velour tracksuits and army pants and flip flops, of course.

If you simply can’t bear to wait any longer to get your Mean Girls fix? Refinery29 reports that the film is set to hit the stage as a musical in Washington D.C. sometime in 2017 – and since Tina Fey herself worked on it, you know it’s going to be good.
