Kate Winslet Won’t Boycott the Oscars & Here’s Why

With all of the buzz about our favorite celebrities boycotting the Oscars this year, it’s getting rare to hear a star defending their reasoning for attending the awards show. That being said, recently Kate Winslet spoke out on why she plans on showing up to support the 2016 nominees.

After seeing her long-time BFF Leonardo DiCaprio working harder than ever this past year, Kate believes that this could finally be the night that he gets his award! Leo has become fairly Internet-famous for his lack of Oscars, but Kate believes all of that could come to an end soon. And she doesn’t want to miss it!

We can’t blame Kate for wanting to be there for her good friend of many years (we wish we could be there for Leo, too!). However, it’s not just about him. This year, as controversial as the nominations have been, there is a promising crop of women being recognized and Kate wants to be a part of it. She was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Steve Jobs and wants to be there to represent the category, as well as women like her working in Hollywood.

Are you as excited for Leo as Kate is, or do you think she needs to change her plans? Let us know, collegiettes!
