I Want Meredith to Be with Riggs on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’—Here’s Why

Okay, I know what you’re thinking: Derek and Meredith will always be together. Nobody can replace Derek and what they had. Normally, I would agree with you, but this time it’s different.

Meredith knows that nobody will ever be able to replace the love of her life and father of her children. She struggled a long time trying to accept his death and mourn the loss of the amazing Dr. Derek Shepherd. (We all did, tbh.) But in my opinion, Meredith has been sad long enough, and it’s time for her to move on. Although she has accepted the idea of being a single, full-time working mother, she knows that she can’t put her kids through growing up without a father figure in their lives.

Believe it or not, I’ve been a fan of Riggs ever since he came to the hospital. Once the show introduced the possibility of Meredith and Riggs happening, I got super excited because I know that Meredith deserves someone amazing in her life. Even though Riggs and Owen have that tense history, I do think that Riggs is a good man and would be a good father to Meredith’s kids.

Throughout Season 13, Riggs has been trying to ask Meredith out, and she’s been so unsure about what to do. He knows that she’s still mourning the loss of Derek and he respects that. Because of that, he has never pushed her into anything. During Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy,  Meredith finally said yes to dinner with him, and honestly, I screamed a little bit. The idea that these two are going to be able to finally go on a real date, and not just hang out in the hospital, makes me so incredibly happy.

The chemistry is just insane between them, and they would be absolutely crazy not to try dating each other. Ever since viewers saw them share a passionate kiss early in the season, we’ve all been pretty excited about this sure-to-be steamy romance. I can’t speak for all Grey’s fans, but I do know this fan is definitely willing to give these two a shot. And I honestly can’t wait.
