Drake recently dropped his latest double album, Scorpion, which was highly anticipated for many reasons—but perhaps one of the biggest was to see if he would respond to Pusha T’s diss track claiming that Drake has a secret love child, allegedly named Adonis.
Well, Drake has responded—and he’s indeed a dad.
One of the most talked about songs in Scorpion is “Emotionless,” in which he sings, “I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world / I was hiding the world from my kid.” Ultimately it confirms the rumor, shared by Pusha T, that the Canadian rapper fathered a child, reportedly with Sophie Brussaux, a former French adult film star. (Though Drake doesn’t confirm these names).
The single “March 14” has more information about Drake’s fatherhood. He raps about meeting the mother of his son only twice and that he’s seen the baby, born October 11, only once. “She not my lover like Billie Jean but the kid is mine / [His mother] Sandi used to tell me all it takes is one time, and all it took was one time/ S***, we only met two times, two times / And both times were nothing like the new times / Now it’s rough times / I’m out here on front lines just trying to make sure that I see him sometimes / It’s breaking my spirit.”
Drake’s own parents are separated, so he admits feeling disappointed his child will grow up the same way: “Single father, I hate when I hear it / I used to challenge my parents on every album / Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent / Always promised the family unit / I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it / But this is the harsh truth now.”

He also talks about taking a DNA test and his one meeting with the infant, during the holidays: “This the first positive DNA we ever celebrated / I can’t forget the looks on they faces / Got the news in Miami that we all now got ones that we raisin’ / Tell Jello bring some, uh, Rosé and Baccarat out for our cheers to the next generation / But this champagne toast is short-lived / I got an empty crib in my empty crib / I only met you one time, introduced you to Saint Nick / I think he must’ve brought you like 20 gifts.”
Drake also makes it clear that things between him and the mother also aren’t great. “Hopefully by the time you hear this me and your mother will have come around instead of always cutting each other down,” he says on the album.
Well, that’s a lot to process.
