Demi Lovato Gave An Emotional Performance of ‘Sober’ & Fans’ Reactions Were Heartwarming

Demi Lovato recently released a very raw and real song titled “Sober,” where she confesses breaking her sobriety. The song is enough to tug at your heartstrings, but the singer’s first live performance of it is even more emotional, so get your tissues.

Performing in front of a sea of people at Rock In Rio Lisbon, just her and a piano, the song quickly became an emotional roller coaster for Demi, as she choked up while singing the lyrics. In the verses, she apologizes to her loved ones and admits that she wants to be a role model to her fans, but having to deal with her sobriety battle doesn’t make her feel like one. The fans in the crowd can be hearing screaming their support for Demi, which gave me goosebumps, TBH. It had to have been reassuring to hear all of her fans showing her love, despite her moments of imperfection.

Not only were the fans touched, but so was Demi, who tweeted a snippet of the performance on Twitter. “Tonight I took the stage, a new person with a new life,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey.” Aww, it’s good to hear she is feeling confident and happy with the song’s release and killer performance.

It’s admirable of Demi to show her vulnerability and admit that her life isn’t always going to be perfect because as we know, everyone is human and no one is perfect. And no matter what, Demi has an army behind her and I think that’s amazing.

You'll usually find her at a concert or cafe somewhere, which is where she spends majority of her free-time. Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.
