‘Catfish’ Host Nev Schulman Is Being Accused Of Sexual Misconduct & I’m Tired

No, you haven’t read this article before. You might think you have, since you’ve probably seen so many just like it—and that’s the problem. Yet here we are: Another day, another media personality accused of sexual misconduct.

Nev Schulman, who co-hosts MTV’s Catfish, was called out by a former show subject for allegedly using “sexually charged language” and “repeatedly [asking] about her sexual orientation,” noted CNN. The subject made the accusations in the form of a YouTube video posted on May 12, in which she referred to Schulman using a pseudonym and later revealed his identity.

People Magazine reported that the subject posted a second YouTube video two days later in which she describes an incident that occurred with an unknown female production assistant who she refers to as “Carol.”  She says that after spending the night drinking in Carol’s hotel room, she “felt herself going in and out of consciousness” and that she “woke up and [Carol] was on top of her,” but cannot recall anything else from that night.

According to The Daily Beast, Schulman denies the accusations. He issued a statement which read, “The behavior described in this video did not happen and I’m fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth. I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions—but these claims are false.”

Although Schulman’s actions have not been proven, MTV has suspended production of Catfish while they investigate.
